The promoter
Le violon de Jos is a living, collective multimedia encyclopedia of traditional Quebec music that was put together to encourage people to learn and practice the traditional repertoire and promote the culture that surrounds it.
In a continuous search for the potential that’s created when tradition and technology converge, our work can be broken down into a series of activities that take place in multiple contexts.
We explore open and innovative applications, such as :
- A collectively created wiki-style encyclopedia that showcases content (like videos, audio recordings and sheet music) sourced online.
- The StageLab approach, that you’re discovering here.
- Violin and instrument loans in exchange for services for people who want to try playing traditional music.
- Original events that showcase traditional music from Quebec in technology-focused contexts (like Wikimania and Startupfest).
Le violon de Jos itself was initiated by Procédurable.
